The term "social media" seems to be analogous to "marketing strategy" nowadays. Social Media is an important tool in creating brand awareness and reaching existing and potential customers with your company's messages but it is not in and of itself a marketing strategy. It's a set of tools that feed in to the bigger picture. It's a piece of a much bigger puzzle.
